Hi everyone! In the last post in the blog marketing section we talked about how comments and syndication is important for your blog. If you have not posted a link to your blog please do so now by visiting the post at http://power5plan.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=300 and please comment on other people's blogs there.
Now, about those comments. Did you know that by default all WordPress blogs contain a no-follow tag attached to your reader's comments? The reason for this is lots of people complain about spam (and a few people are jealous of their link juice). But, with the advent of Akismet spam is not a problem. Yes, you still might need to moderate those comments a little, as some spam might pass the check. However, it's certainly not as bad as it was in the past.
SO, now is the time to give your readers a little gift by allowing the search engines to spider their comments and follow those comments to their own sites. This will also encourage more people to read and comment on your blog. Sort of a you scratch my back I scratch yours thing.
How do you do this? It's easy! For WordPress blogs all you need is to add a plugin called "Do Follow" All it does is remove those pesky rel=nofollow tags from the comments. Now, the commenter's website will be crawled when they leave a comment on YOUR blog. Of course, any links they insert in the comment itself are still not followed, but you don't want people openly advertising in your comments anyway.
Go to your WordPress C-Panel, open up Plugins and do a search for "Do Follow". It should be the first one that pops up and currently it is rated the highest. Click on install and you are done. There are no settings as all it does is remove that rel=nofollow tag. And you are done!
Looking forward to reading (and commenting) on your blog! Have a great day! _________________ Vincent Parker
